Thank you... These are works by the Mexican engraver José Posada (1852-1913). You can read a little about him here These cuts illustrate the end of the world by a giant comet and I suppose would have appeared in a kind of 'penny dreadful' type publication. I love the wording in the first illustration... "THE WHOLE WORLD ABOUT TO BE BURNT TO A CINDER! The end of the world is nigh! We are doomed to roast! Nay, be turned to ashes!" beautiful....
